SAM – Salón de Arte Moderno will hold its first edition from Tuesday, February 26 to Sunday, March 3 at calle Velázquez 12 in Madrid, adding to the calendar of must-visit events that will take place during the week of ARCOmadrid.
The fair will exhibit works of art by the greats of the avant-garde – Salvador Dalí, Pablo Picasso, Fernand Léger, Marc Chagall, Tamara de Lempicka, Joan Miró – and of modern art – Antoni Tàpies, Antonio Saura, Equipo Crónica, and Eduardo Chillida. It will also feature contemporary artists whose names have already gone down in art history, such as Jaume Plensa, Miquel Barceló, and Rafael Canogar.
SAM is the only European art fair specialized in the avant-garde and modern art, and thus is a must-attend event for art lovers and collectors. The fair, which includes works that could be on display at any great museum, will debut the two most recent pieces by Manolo Valdés, and a small, delicate glass sculpture by Jaume Plensa entitled Laura’s frozen dreams, which is very similar to the installation in Madrid's Plaza de Colón.
